Moroccanoil

Oh boy! This product has some people fired up! Some people LOVE it and can't go without it while others are so angry with the claims of this product. Lets start off with what the product claims to do:

• Revives hair
• Strengthens and conditions
• Reduces drying time

I have only bought this product online but I have seen it in a few salons. You can get a .85 fl oz bottle for around $10-$15 and a 3.4 fl oz bottle for $30-$40. I bought the small bottle and it has lasted me a few months now. I suggest getting the small size bottle at first as well so you can see if you really like it or not.

It makes it's name by saying it has Argon Oil (liquid gold) in it. I personally have not used 100% pure argon oil before because I don't have the need or want to pay $25-$40 for about 2-3oz of oil that you can't even guarantee is actually 100% pure. I do know for a fact though that it is extremely over priced and in Morocco it is sold by the gallons for a few cents. The oil itself is really raved about. It actually is so raved about that red flags go up in my head and make me think that a good 99% of reviews I read about it are made by people marketing the product (I am starting to want to buy this product just so I can give a real review on it). So, argon oil claims to be better than any anti aging / moisturizing product out there. It claims to be the best for hair, skin, and nail. Some people say it is just as good as Jojoba oil for hot oil treatments in hair while others say that Jojoba oil doesn't even compare. Till I try it for myself I wont say one way or another.

Here is the issue with Moroccanoil's claim... on the ingredients list argon oil is actually 4th on the list and really shouldn't be their claim to fame. The reason this product makes your hair sooooooo soft (I can't lie, your hair does feel rather amazing when using this) is because it is loaded with silicone (Uh oh! Dun, dun, dun dun!!!!). One of the most debated about products in curly hair and hair in general. Some woman say they can't go without it while others say never use it because it will dry out your hair. The truth is that silicone does coat your hair and the only way to wash it out is with shampoo that contains lauryl or laureth sulfates (Yet another HIGHLY debated about product for hair).

So with that being said I must say if you have curly hair I wouldn't recommend this product for regular use. I do a great deal of research on hair products and not just for my hair type. I want to make sure the products I use are okay for my daughter who has very curly hair. With that I also have done my research on the best ways to deal with curly hair and that includes the conditioner cleansing methods. I still feel like I have not done enough research though to say one way or another what is the BEST for curly hair and I do feel like it is one of those things that you have to try for your own. In my opinion though as I said before if you have curly hair, limit your use of this product.

Wow that was a lot of information I had to get out right there!

Now as for how I use this product! After I shampoo and condition my hair I towel dry. I then put my leave-in conditioners in my hair. I put about a dime size amount of Moroccanoil in my hand and then add a few squirts of Bed Head- Ego Boost- Split End Mender. A little bit of this product goes a long way. I then put it throughout my hair but stop at about 2-3 inches from the root. I don't like to put it close to the root because this will make your hair oily.

It does make your hair oh-so-very-soft! But that is all it does. It wont repair your hair. If you read the words they use to describe the product you will see over and over them saying it makes your hair LOOK more healthy. It doesn't say it will make your hair more healthy. I also don't think it adds a great amount of shine like it claims. The smell of it is average and could be compared to walking into a incense shop.

I would have to say I give this product a 6 out of 10. (This was a hard review). I just feel that it doesn't add up to the claims but does give your hair that salon feel.
